Former Mississippi State EDGE Montez Sweat had a roller coaster ride during the buildup to the 2019 NFL Draft.

First, his stock rose in a hurry as he performed well in both the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine, but then his stock took a hit amid reports of a heart condition.

Still, he ended up going to the Washington Redskins with the No. 26 overall pick in the draft, so it all worked out in the end. On Wednesday, the Redskins announced that Sweat had signed his first NFL contract:

Rookie deals are for four years, with a team option for the fifth season. The financial details of the contract are not known at this time.

Sweat will work to make an impact as a rookie, and according to coach Jay Gruden, he looked good at the team’s recent rookie minicamp.
