Greg Knox took over for Zach Arnett following his firing earlier this week after a blowout loss to Texas A&M Saturday.

Knox dialed in to the SEC’s final teleconference of the season to discuss the state of the program and what he’s liked to see from the players and coaches.

He insisted Wednesday that the energy and attitudes have been great and that everyone is doing what is asked of them:

“The energy was where I needed it to be, the attitudes were great. I think the kids came out and they did exactly what we ask of them. So we were pleased with that so go out and do it again.”

He was also asked about what the interim role means to him specifically. Knox, who worked as Mississippi State’s senior offensive analyst, has experience as an interim coach before, taking over for Florida in 2021 and Mississippi State in 2017.

Here’s what he had to say about a 3rd opportunity:

“It means a lot to me, because I care about the players and through my life of coaching over 30-something it’s always been about the development of young men. This has been a great honor for me, and so I take it seriously.”
