Former Mississippi State DB star Johnthan Banks has found a new home in the NFL.

Banks was signed by the Houston Texans Wednesday morning. The move is for added depth on the Texans defense, and Banks could see action Sunday when they take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Banks was a second round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013. He played in 31 games and recorded seven interceptions in his first two seasons in the NFL. Banks’ performance took a hit in his third season when he appeared in 14 games with just seven starts and no interceptions. He played in nine games last season in stops with Tampa Bay, Detroit, and Chicago.

Houston Texans PR tweeted out the transaction report Wednesday:

Banks appeared in 51 games during his career with MSU. He finished with 221 total tackles and 16 interceptions. Banks’ 16 interceptions are tied for the Bulldogs all-time record with Walt Harris.
