Jay Hampton, former Mississippi State DB, announces in-state transfer destination

Jay Hampton was one of a few Mississippi State defenders to enter the NCAA transfer portal this offseason.
But, now it appears the former 3-star member of the Bulldogs’ 2021 recruiting class won’t be going far as he prepares for the 2022 season.
As you can see below, he took to Twitter this weekend to announce he was committing to Southern Miss for this upcoming campaign:

Hampton, a native of Amory, Mississippi, was the No. 112 cornerback in the class of 2021 and the No. 25 overall recruit from the state of Mississippi, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
He did not record any stats during his one season in Starkville.
