After being very publicly disappointed with his team’s failure to acquire Paxton Lynch in the 2016 NFL Draft, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has certainly come around on his rookie quarterback Dak Prescott.

Prescott of course torched the Rams in his first NFL preseason game and looked just as good in the Cowboys second preseason game against the Dolphins last weekend. After seeing Prescott live twice in a Dallas jersey, Jones’ recent comments indicate the former Mississippi State star has looked just as good off the field in preparation for his opportunity to see the field at the NFL level.

“There’s an old adage that if you’ve seen it and you’ve seen it pretty good, well then you know it’s there, you know they can do it,” Jones said, according to Clarence E. Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “The question of many college quarterbacks is can they operate in the pro game, in the pro system. Can they not only function early, especially with our game, but can they do it efficiently? We’ve seen him do it at practice. We’ve seen him do it in meeting sessions. We’ve seen him carry that now to games.

“There is an energy that comes with him to the field. That same energy, surprisingly, comes with him to the classroom. That same energy comes with him in many different ways. You got to add that up. We are in a situation where we can have a developing backup quarterback because of the excellence of Tony Romo. We can have that behind him. To me, that’s what you’re ideally striving for. What we’ve seen so far in these first two preseason games does make you look positively toward his progress.”

According to Prescott, some of the credit for his success with the Cowboys must go to the offense he ran in Starkville, which he called ‘nothing short of an NFL offense.’

Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen obviously took great pride in the comment, as he tweeted the following image out Monday morning:
