Joe Moorhead isn’t messing around. The new Mississippi State coach quickly won over his inherited quarterback during their first conversation when the coach told Nick Fitzgerald they would win an SEC Championship next season. Oh, and Moorhead also told the MSU QB he would help him win a Heisman Trophy.

Judging by the way Moorhead milked every ounce of talent out of Penn State QB Trace McSorley, who is essentially a smaller Fitzgerald, the new MSU coach isn’t just speaking in hyperbole — he aims to accomplish both those incredibly lofty goals.

Given the talent Mississippi State has returning in 2018, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that both things occur in his first season in Starkville.
