The SEC community continues to show an outpouring of love for the late Mike Leach. LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey had a ton of respect from afar for the job Leach did during his 21 seasons as a college football head coach.
Mulkey reflected on Leach and the fragility of life while she addressed the media on Tuesday.
“A sad day for college football. A sad day for his family. Life is fragile, guys. Life just can change in an instant,” Mulkey said. “That man was just coaching, was he not a Saturday ago and we don’t have him anymore. That’s how quickly your life can change.”
“Life is fragile guys. Life just can change in an instant.”
We asked @KimMulkey about the passing of @HailStateFB Mike Leach. Mulkey, as usual, did not disappoint.

Mulkey points to the mad genius aspect of Leach’s personality that often left her stunned at his breadth of wisdom.
“He had some 1-liners didn’t he? Sometimes he was so smart that he lost you,” Mulkey said. “Like, what did he just say? Because he was so smart.”
Mulkey was amazed at how Leach made the most with what he was given and overachieved more often than not.
“You judge a coach in any sport, based on the talent that they have, are they competing? Did he ever have the best talent in the country on the teams that he coached? Probably not. But he could always compete, beat you, upset somebody,” Mulkey said. “He was innovative with all the things he did offensively. From what I could tell from watching, I don’t know that he ever needed an offensive coordinator. Looked like he was doing it himself.”
