Mississippi State had some tough luck in starting the season 2-2, but the Bulldogs put together a complete effort Saturday night in a 26-22 upset win at No. 15 Texas A&M.

Quarterback Will Rogers led Mississippi State by completing 46-of-59 passes for 408 yards and 3 touchdowns, and the Bulldogs defense was stout, allowing just 297 total yards to the Aggies.

After the game, Mike Leach was asked in an SEC Network interview about the resiliency his players showed in picking up a huge road win.

“We were resilient in all those other game too, you know,” Leach said. “I mean, the ball bounced funny for us, and the ball had some help bouncing funny sometimes. But we were resilient in all of them and I have to say I’m proud of our team for that.”

Leach was also asked about how Rogers managed the Air Raid offense Saturday night, and Leach offered the type of praise that only he can after that sort of performance.

“Getting closer,” Leach said of Rogers and the passing attack. “We’re getting closer.”

As for where the Bulldogs go from here, Leach said while it was a good win for his team, there’s still plenty of work to be done.

“We’ve got to get a lot better,” Leach said. “I think we’ve improved; we improved this week. But we have to get a lot better and we can get a lot better, so we need to keep our eye on that.”

And finally, it wouldn’t be a Mike Leach interview without heading off on a tangent, and tonight it was a discussion of Netflix shows, as Leach admitted that he’s already watched the 2nd season of “Outer Banks” while also offering some additional viewing recommendations, as can be seen below:
