Mississippi State is looking to underdog a transformation this offseason ahead of the second season of the Jeff Lebby era, and the Bulldogs bolstered their coaching staff by hiring 2 assistant coaches from Deion Sanders’ staff at Colorado.

Matt Zenitz of CBS and 247Sports first had the report that Lebby would be bringing in Buffaloes’ offensive line coach Phil Loadholt and defensive analyst Vincent Dancy.

A former Oklahoma and NFL offensive lineman, Loadholt is familiar with Lebby from his days of working on staff with him at OU and Ole Miss.

Dancy was the head coach at Mississippi Valley State prior to joining Sanders in Boulder. After serving as a defensive analyst in 2023, Lancy coached Colorado’s EDGE group on defense in 2024. The Buffaloes ranked first in the Big 12 in sacks recorded this season, and Lancy will take on the same role in Starkville.

Both moves seem to follow Lebby’s offseason trend of bolstering the offensive and defensive lines. To date, Mississippi State has brought in six defensive line transfers and a trio of transfers along the offensive line.

And it makes sense, given the Bulldogs ranked 14th in rushing yards per game last season in the SEC and gave up the third-most sacks in the league. On the other side of the ball, they ranked dead-last in total sacks generated and yards allowed per game.
