It took a while, but Jamire Calvin has reunited with coach Mike Leach.

The former Washington State wide receiver has announced on social media that he has committed to Mississippi State. It’s become a bit of a trend in Starkville, as Calvin joins former Cal wideout Makai Polk as receivers to transfer to State this offseason. Because of injury, Calvin redshirted during Leach’s final season at WSU in 2019.

As a redshirt junior last season, Calvin started all four games at Z receiver, made 17 catches for 183 yards including one touchdown. He also matched a career-high with seven catches and set career-high with 104 receiving yards including an 8-yard touchdown, his second career 100-yard game, at Utah.

When Leach was still at Washington State, Calvin played in 13 games each season as a freshman and sophomore. As a freshman, he caught 33 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns. As a sophomore, he caught 42 passes for 497 yards and one touchdown.

As a high school prospect, he was a 4-star recruit and played in the U.S. Army All-American Game in San Antonio. He’s listed at 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds from Pasadena, California. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
