Mississippi State set to hire Indiana baseball coach Chris Lemonis
Mississippi State has finally found its full-time replacement for Andy Cannizaro as the program is expected to name Indiana coach Chris Lemonis as the next coach of Hail State baseball.
Following the abrupt, and frankly shocking dismissal of Cannizaro at the beginning of the season, Gary Henderson was named the interim coach of the program. Henderson led the Bulldogs within one game of the national championship series, as MSU fell to Oregon State over the weekend in the College World Series.
The first to break news of this hire was Kendall Rogers of d1baseball.com. The news has since been confirmed by multiple outlets. Lemonis had a 141-91-2 record at Indiana during his four years with the school.
BREAKING: I’m hearing from sources that @IndianaBase head coach Chris Lemonis will be the next head coach at @HailStateBB, and that top #HailState assistant Jake Gautreau will stay on staff. If that doesn’t change, I really like that duo.
