Report: Mississippi State has hired its next athletic director
According to a report from The Clarion-Ledger, Mississippi State has found its next athletic director.
Sources have indicated to the outlet that MSU baseball head coach John Cohen will be named as the new athletic director in Starkville. He will replace Scott Stricklin — whom left for Florida last month. The announcement is scheduled for some time on Tuesday.
Cohen will become the 17th athletic director in Mississippi State history — and the fourth-in-a-row which has come from within the university.
Cohen played baseball for the Bulldogs from 1988-90. He then transitioned shortly after into the coaching realm. Cohen took over the head coaching job at MSU in 2009. He’s enjoyed immense success on the baseball diamond in Starkville — including five winning seasons and a College World Series appearance in 2013.
Update: Sid Salter, the Chief Communications Officer & Director of the Office of Public Affairs at Mississippi State University, refuted the report.
The AD search at MSU is wide open and ongoing. The process continues as outlined. This report is not accurate.

In addition, USA Today’s Dan Wolken also spoke to his sources.
I'm told by a person with knowledge of the situation Mississippi State has not hired an AD yet.
