LSU and Texas A&M aren’t alone as SEC teams trying to manage COVID-19 outbreaks this week. Add Mississippi State to that list as well.

And now, the first game of the week has been postponed.

On Monday, the SEC announced that Saturday’s Auburn-Mississippi State game has been tentatively rescheduled for Dec. 12 “due to positive tests and subsequent quarantining of individuals” within the Bulldogs’ program. Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated was the first to report that Mississippi State was dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak.

There had already been several SEC programs to have COVID-19 outbreaks that led to games being postponed earlier this season, including Vanderbilt and Florida. But this could end up being the week most heavily impacted by the coronavirus yet, should these programs not get things under control.

The Alabama-LSU and Texas A&M-Tennessee games also appear to have chances of getting postponed.

Mississippi State ended its four-game losing streak this past Saturday with a 24-17 win over Vanderbilt. The Bulldogs were preparing to enter a difficult portion of their schedule, as after the Auburn game, they were scheduled to face No. 12 Georgia on the road on Nov. 21.

Now, there will be some uncertainty about Mississippi State’s schedule moving forward, and it’s unclear when it will return to the field.
