Coach Jimbo Fisher revealed that Texas A&M has paused in-person team activities on Monday following two positive tests — a player and a staff member — following the blowout win at South Carolina.

“We suspended things for the safety protocols to make sure we do our quarantine tracing and all the things,” Fisher said. “If there is more there, if there is a spread, we’re trying to prevent that. Do everything from a safety issue from our players and our staff to keep them as safe as possible. So we’ll do everything by Zoom today and then we’ll make accordances based off the test results we get back and the things that are going on and the quarantine tracing in which we’re presently still pursuing and finalizing.”

At this point, the Aggies are still prepared to play at Tennessee this week.

“Right now, everything is full go,” Fisher said at his Monday press conference.

Fisher didn’t name the people who received the latest positive tests, but S Demani Richardson did not make the trip with the Aggies to South Carolina because of a positive test, Fisher said after the game.

The entire team was to be re-tested on Monday. He’s not sure about the timeline of next steps because the program was still in the middle of quarantine tracing. Fisher explained how difficult it is to manage the situation overall.

“It’s extremely difficult, and not only for that, but for your staff and for yourself, I’m very aware of things I’ve got to do and you’ve got to do it constantly. It could happen to you without you knowing, that’s the thing about this thing,” Fisher said. “You could safe as you could be and the protocols and the things we have going on I think are excellent. But it can just happen and that’s the unfortunate thing about it.”
