Third player of the week decommits from Mississippi State, this one a 2021 in-state receiver
It has been a rough year for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, as they are currently 2-6 overall and just lost the Egg Bowl to rival Ole Miss.
Now, they’re having an awful week on the recruiting trails. First, they had 3-star DB Myzel Williams decommit. Then, 3-star RB Amariyon Howard decommitted.
On Wednesday night, the third player of the week — 3-star WR Brandon Buckhaulter — took to Twitter to announce he was decommitting:
I am officially De-committed From Mississippi State University .. Thanks for recruiting me @HailStateFB ..
— Brandon Buckhaulter (@KvngBman) December 3, 2020
Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Buckhaulter is the No. 86 receiver in the 2021 class and the No. 8 overall recruit from the state of Mississippi.
The Bulldogs are now down to 17 players in their 2021 recruiting class, which currently ranks No. 38 nationally and No. 10 in the SEC, per 247Sports.
Well, that’s less than optimal.
Not quite sure it is; gives us room to recruit higher ranked recruits in their place, or at the very least recruits that want to be part of the program. See ya, buckhalter.
Not worried about it. It’s called processing and it happens with every school.
Most teams don’t process their 4th highest rated recruit in their class, especially when you are trying to sign 5 WR’s this year. Whatever helps you feel better I guess.
Mike Leach is one of a kind. His mix of humor and seriousness, or seriousness that comes out of humor is perfectly unique. A lot of recruits are looking for familiarity, understanably, going off to college is not without anxieties even for the toughest most self assured personalities. Some people would say, however, Leach gives his roster permission to be perfectly ok with themselves. And that’s easy IF you are the kind of football player that has the risk reward mind for something besides 3.33 yards and a spray of black astroturf boogers.
