After getting some extra time off because of a bye week, Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen addressed the media on Monday and said he and his team are ready to get back to work this week against Missouri.
Mullen opens: We’re excited to go back out there and play. We had the opportunity this weekend to rest a little bit.

Looking ahead to Thursday night’s meeting with the Tigers, Mullen was particularly complimentary of Missouri’s defense. He pointed to the defensive line specifically as the heart of the Tigers defense.

Mullen calls Missouri’s defense “the best in the conference.” Says, in particular, the defensive line is very impressive and talented.

Mullen downplayed the relevance of playing a game on Thursday as opposed to Saturday. He added that there really is not much of a difference and his team will be ready to go no matter when they have to play.

With Tigers quarterback Maty Mauk suspended for the rest of the season and Drew Lock taking over under center for Missouri, Mullen said the Bulldogs’ game plan hasn’t changed very much at all.

Heading into Week 10, Mullen is happy with where his team is at and thinks Mississippi State is really starting to “hit its stride.”
Mullen says MSU is starting to find its identity and hit its stride. “Schematically, we’ve settled in to what we’re doing well.”
