Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott already holds 12 single-season and 11 career records for the Bulldogs, and now the senior is approaching several other school and SEC records.

While currently standing as the conference’s active leader in total offense (9,470), completions (566), passing yards (7,283), touchdown passes (52), rushing touchdowns (35) and rushing yards by a quarterback (2,187), Prescott also joined Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel last week as the only players in SEC history to throw for at least 50 touchdowns and rush for at least 30.

He seems to be running out of records to break at this point, but we decided to take a look at a few of the other milestones that Prescott is nearing.

Prescott needs just 93 yards on the ground to break John Bond’s school record for career rushing yards by a Bulldogs quarterback. Bond played under center for Mississippi State in the early 1980s and is known as one of the most prolific running quarterbacks in the history of the SEC.

If Prescott can pass Bond’s mark, it will also put him at 3rd all-time in the conference for rushing yards by a quarterback. Tim Tebow currently holds that record and is 760 rushing yards ahead of Prescott. It won’t be easy, but Prescott has six games left to try and pass Tebow to become the SEC’s all-time leading rusher for quarterbacks.

Prescott could also break two more rushing records if he scores 7 more times on the ground. With 7 more rushing touchdowns, Prescott would tie running back Anthony Dixon for the most in Mississippi State history, and he would also be the school’s all-time leading scorer.

As good as Prescott is at running the football, his primary responsibility for the Bulldogs is to throw the football, and he does that awfully well, too.

Something to keep an eye out for in Mississippi State’s meeting with Kentucky this week will be whether or not Prescott can extend his streak of 274 straight passes without throwing an interception. If Prescott can throw the ball 18 more times without throwing a pick, he will pass former Georgia quarterback David Greene, who threw 291 straight passes without an interception in 2004 and currently holds the 2nd-longest streak in SEC history.

Prescott’s 87 total touchdowns rank 8th all-time in the SEC, and he continues to climb that list of impressive names as well. He trails Manziel by 6, and Peyton Manning and Chris Leak by 14. Tebow holds the record with 145.
