Will Rogers officially announced his plans to enter the transfer portal on Friday afternoon.

The longtime Mississippi State quarterback will look for a new program to play for in 2024. On Friday morning, 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported that Rogers was expected to enter the portal.

Rogers wrote a heartfelt message to Mississippi State fans in his announcement.

“Thanks to the fans who have supported us,” Rogers wrote in-part. “Through some really good times and through some really hard times. You guys mean more to us than you will ever know.

“I will carry my time at MSU with me forever, no matter where my path may lead. Hail State!”

Rogers also mentioned the late Mike Leach in his announcement, calling him “a legend and a friend.”

Rogers leaves Mississippi State as the program’s all-time leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns. He threw for 12,315 yards in 4 seasons with the Bulldogs. The announcement comes after Rogers and Mississippi State came up short in the Egg Bowl on Thursday night.

Rogers will have 1 year of eligibility remaining at his next program.
