It was a tumultuous year in Columbia to say the least.

While the Tigers performance on the field could have been much better, Missouri still had a few impact freshmen that found quick success, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

Here’s a look at the 2015 Missouri freshmen contributions.

Player Position Starts Games Played
Terry Beckner DL 5 10
Walter Brady DL 9 12
Corey Fatony P 11 11
Drew Lock QB 8 12

DEFENSIVE IMPACT

Missouri’s defense was its bread and butter in 2015 and several freshmen played a huge role. Brady was probably the most dominant of the Tigers rookies. He led all freshmen in sacks in 2015 with seven and was an immediate force on Missouri’s defensive line. Beckner was another playmaker. He had 27 tackles (13 solo), 8.5 tackles-for-loss, three sacks, a pass break-up, a fumble recovery and two QB hurries during his rookie campaign.

On special teams. Corey Fatony was named to the SEC All-Freshmen team and was widely considered the best freshman punter in the nation.

OFFENSIVE IMPACT

The Tigers offense was dismal in 2015. Drew Lock struggled without help from a running game, protection from the offensive line or capable receivers. Kenyon Dilosa and Cam Hilton got experience at wide receiver. The Mizzou offense will undergo a major overall in the offseason.

OVERALL

The Tigers ability to recruit defensive prospects that can contribute right away can’t be overstated. Beckner and Brady are poised to become two of the best defensive linemen in the SEC. Lock was an Elite 11 high school quarterback. If provided adequate support, the Tigers offense should improve.
