Missouri has an opportunity to land one of the top basketball players in the 2022 recruiting class. But in order to do so, the Tigers will have to edge three traditional powerhouse programs.

On Saturday, 5-star small forward Mark Mitchell named the top four colleges that he’s considering. His list has been trimmed down to: Missouri, Duke, Kansas and UCLA.

If the Tigers received a commitment from Mitchell, it would be a huge get. A 6-foot-8 standout from Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Mitchell could potentially become the second player in Mizzou’s 2022 class (along with Illinois point guard Christian Jones).

Mitchell is ranked No. 10 among all 2022 recruits, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, and he’s the No. 3 small forward and No. 1 player from Kansas. He took visits to all four of the schools he’s still considering back in June.

After Mitchell visited Missouri on June 12, he came away impressed.

“It definitely exceeded my expectations,” Mitchell said last month, per Eric Bossi of 247Sports.com. “The staff felt like family there and Mizzou is a cool place. It is a great college town and I really vibed with the guys. It was a really good visit.”
