The saga involving the Denver Broncos and the wipe out of its quarterback position because of COVID-19 protocols appears over.

The franchise announced on Tuesday that former Missouri QB Drew Lock, along with Brett Rypien and Blake Bortles have been activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list and moved to the active roster. All were unable to play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

The team announced Sunday that the three quarterbacks were asymptomatic, and coach Vic Fangio said Monday the three quarterbacks had continued to test negative and that another negative test on Tuesday would allow the players to return.

UCHealth Training Center remained closed Tuesday under the NFL’s decision to close facilities league-wide to start the week, but Lock, Rypien and Bortles will be able to rejoin their teammates at practice on Wednesday.

Rookie practice squad receiver Kendall Hinton was thrust into the starting quarterback role with zero practice reps after Lock, Rypien and Bortles could not play because they were around No. 3 QB Jeff Driskel last week before Driskel tested positive for the coronavirus.

It’s been a tough season for Lock. He has seven touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and missed the equivalent of nearly four games after he suffered a shoulder injury and had the self-inflicted isolation.
