Former Mizzou WR CJay Boone announces transfer commitment to Mountain West team
After opting out of the 2020 season, former Mizzou wide receiver CJay Boone has settled on a new program to continue his college football career. On Saturday, Boone tweeted a commitment announcement to New Mexico.
A redshirt freshman backup receiver from St. Louis, Boone opted out in late September ahead of Mizzou’s season-opener against Alabama.
In October, he announced he would be entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Out of Parkway North, Boone was rated 3-stars, the No. 9 recruit in Missouri, No. 64 wide receiver and No. 536 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2019 on the 247Sports Composite. New Mexico was one of the nine other programs to offer him a scholarship out of high school.

Vaya Con Dios
sincere prayers for success, it’s my understanding that program is making progress and I hope you can help them continue that
New Mexico. That pretty much says all you need to know.
True that. I don’t even remember this guy.
Boone is a goood player, super good athlete and one of the ‘Lou to the Zou’ gang. He’s kind of a casualty of the transfer portal though, as Hazelton, Chism, and definitely now Cooper have probably decreased his chances to get a legitimate look for playing time, not to mention Hester, Maclin, and Lovett all coming aboard after Boone signed.
Best of luck to you, Mr. Boone. Heads up for Bark Scorpions, desert centipedes, and the notorious Apache Brown Spider.
Best of Luck CJay. Make St. Louis proud.
