The Kansas City Chiefs surprised many on Friday night when they cut former Missouri WR Jeremy Maclin.

While the Chiefs saw an opportunity to clear cap space, many of the NFL’s 31 other teams will see an opportunity to upgrade their receiving corps with the veteran wideout. Prior to joining Kansas City in 2015, Maclin spent his first six NFL seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles (2009-14). Fellow class of 2009 rookie LeSean McCoy was also on Philadelphia’s roster at that time, and now he would like Maclin to reunite with him in Buffalo.

“Don’t be surprised if it happens,” McCoy told ESPN.com’s Mike Rodak at a charity softball game. While McCoy said he doesn’t have inside information, he confirmed he’s already spoken to the former Tigers wideout.

The Bills’ front office, however, may see things differently. Sean Wagner-McGough of CBS Sports recently ranked all 32 teams based on likelihood of landing Maclin, and he put Buffalo at No. 18 in a grouping of 12 teams he labeled “Tier 2: Never say never.”

“We probably shouldn’t rule out any of these teams,” Wagner-McGough writes, “but when you consider things like cap room, recent draft picks and the depth charts of teams like (the Bills), they aren’t quite good enough fits to crack our top tier.” Thirteen teams make his “Tier 1” of best fits.

While getting cut in June is a tough blow to the eight-year veteran, it certainly looks like plenty of teams will be looking to add Maclin to their roster.
