Missouri trolls Kentucky after snapping losing streak to Wildcats
Entering Saturday, Kentucky had beaten Missouri five years in a row.
So much for that.
In his first game in the annual series, Eli Drinkwitz led Mizzou to a win over the Wildcats for the first time since the 2014 season as the Tigers won 20-10 in Columbia.
The game was won on defense as the Tigers allowed a total of 145 yards of total offense to Kentucky, including holding the Wildcats to just 47 passing yards. Terry Wilson was 3 of 9 passing while Joey Gatewood went 1 of 4.
The Tigers rushing attack led the way on offense as Missouri rushed the ball 62 times for 220 yards and two touchdowns.
Following the win, Missouri shared this tweet to troll Kentucky:

I really don’t understand this steak thing. It’s not like KY is the first team we had lost 5 in a row to. There have been many Kentucky’s over the years.
It’s Cat-a-tonic, because everybody knows time expired in 2018 with Missouri ahead of Kentucky and you can still watch the replay of the bogus pass-interference call that reversed the outcome of the game. The two teams were 4-4 up till today, and now Missouri has a 1 game edge and next year will be another battle.
Honestly, if Eddie Gran is still the offensive coordinator, it won’t be a battle. Mizzou will hand the Cats a dreadful beating.
Time will tell, but KY fans should have some satisfaction in the over-all look of the Wildcats trend. They are among a small group of D1 programs gaining significant ground on the rest of the 130. My opinion is that bowl season will validate what was better managed in the SEC this year.
Bottom line Mizzu wanted this game more , you saw it in their Defense, Offense moving staying ahead of the chains and their kicking game .
My Cats laid an absolute Egg today but also don’t forget Mizzu was coming in off a bye week but props to the Tigers . They won this round but next year in Lex we’ll be ready to Cat Duel again !
After the first two UK possessions I had the distinct impression that the team was really feeling the loss of John Schlarman this game. Emotionally flat and team couldn’t function properly, although we did not play all that bad for the most part. No energy.
I wouldn’t consider this “trolling”.
I don’t either, in the world of gloating a little, it’s a fairly tame cat family answer to the word-on-the-streak. And I hope it seems fair fun to our good neighbors cross the Mississippi River. We should all like it when the SEC seems to be having a trend in this region of the SEC because the extreme opposite corner of the league is getting too much love. LSU expanded the football Southeast that way last year so it time for Missouri, Kentucky, South Carolina upper crust to show a sugar-coating now.
I don’t understand the ‘trolling’ angle, either. Mizzou beat us soundly (at our own game). Same thing happened last year at SC, before we re-grouped with Lynn Bowden, Jr. There was NO WAY the tigers were going to lose 6 in a row and it showed. Congratulations on the win – I hope your team continues the stellar play.
Kind of you to say, best of luck to the Cats as well.
Congrats to Missouri, you spanked our hinnies good.
Missouri deserves to bask in victory. They beat us worse than was reflected in the score. Their defense was incredible. Bazelak played like an all conference QB. Roundtree was dominant. Missouri’s played textbook ball control offense and what time UK had the ball, they were unable to move it with any consistency. Kentucky was never a threat to win this game. Congratulations to Missouri.
Well said by a fan who has basketball to look forward to. Mizzou fans don’t have that luxury.
LOL
Congrats to MIZ on the win. KY has earned the leagues respect over the last few seasons and are not a push over team. MIZ showed incredible fight and resolve. After KY embarrassed the Vols, I thought the Cats would get the win against MIZ.
At this point I would consider both teams a danger to the hierarchy going forward this season. Kentucky is not going to roll over now. They’ve had it that way all they want and we’re wondering how diverse and solid we are now that there’s a complete buy in to a still and ever developing game plan. That seems to be fluid in how it’s able to mold to fit each opponent. If 3 wins come next then look for 4.
