South Carolina already had its bowl game canceled (Gasparilla Bowl), and Tennessee was replaced by Army in its bowl game (Liberty). Now, the SEC may lose another bowl game due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.

Per multiple reports, the Music City Bowl involving Missouri and Iowa may not even happen due to the Tigers high COVID-19 numbers. The game is scheduled for Wednesday.

The St. Louis-Post Dispacth’s Dave Matter reports that, “It’s ‘highly, highly doubtful’ that Mizzou will play in Wednesday’s Music City Bowl, per source, after an uptick in COVID cases.”

Matter reports that the uptick in positive cases was traced back to Starkville.

That’s not good news for the SEC’s bowl season. The Tigers will likely finish Eli Drinkwitz’s first season 5-5.

An official announcement is expected to be made Sunday afternoon.
