New Kansas State Chris Klieman adds former Mizzou assistant to staff as defensive coordinator
As new Kansas State coach Chris Klieman assembles his coaching staff, he isn’t going too far when it comes to adding assistants.
On Friday, the Wildcats announced that Mizzou analyst Ted Monachino had been hired as the team’s defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.
Monachino was a former Mizzou linebacker who had spent the 2016 and 2017 seasons as the defensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts before a regime change cost him his job:

Monachino also has a Super Bowl ring from his time as a linebackers coach with the Baltimore Ravens and has previously coached at Arizona State.
Even though he had yet to be put into an on-field role for the Tigers, it’s safe to say if any spots had opened up, he would have been a top candidate. Barry Odom and his staff will be sorry to see him go.
