Is this SEC football? Missouri-Arkansas attendance is embarrassing
College football fans in Columbia, Missouri, must be too full of turkey or too busy Black Friday shopping to care that Mizzou is hosting “rival” Arkansas in its season finale today.
Just before kickoff, the home crowd had yet to show up, leading to this embarrassing photo:
Must be some good #BlackFriday sales in Columbia MO today. #ShowMe pic.twitter.com/OHjJhPUQqN

The Mizzou defense also failed to show up on time, allowing the Razorbacks to take a 7-0 lead just 55 seconds into the game.
The Tigers still trail the Hogs 7-0 early in the first quarter.
It’s the day after Thanksgiving. I’ve been to many LSU vs Arkansas games that were played the Friday after Thanksgiving and it was never close to being a packed house…. For obvious reasons so there is no surprise the attendance is low at a Missouri home game, the day after Thanksgiving.
I think it’s funny especially after their LB said their crowd was gonna show up in force.
Looks like it was just the team that showed up… in force. :)
I think it’s funny all the hogs got out of our stadium after the game fast as they could
Thanks to all the woo-pig-folks who showed up. The game was exciting and having a good visiting crowd made it all the better. Once again the sportsmanship between the fan bases was top-flight. Wow, what an exciting game. Well coached, well played by each team, and with some hot-shot individual performances as well. I appreciate all the SEC visiting fans but the hog fans were super today, and nice band too.
Amen..
Still think it was funny? Lol
:)
Our fan base has been so depressed and negative lately guys. This game meant alot for us fans going forward. Of course there wasn’t a big attendance. Day after Thanksgiving. Nothing has been going good for Mizzou lately and we are in the news for the wrong reasons it seems like every other week. Go watch a program that has singlehandedly tarnished its own reputation play a football game, or spend some time with my loved ones visiting from out of State? I’ll choose family Everytime no matter how much I will always bleed Tiger black and gold. The fans dont need to right the Mizzou ship. Our Athletic department and people in charge need to do that. When we start seeing that they are serious about righting the ship? You will see die hards come back and back to stay. Last year’s CS1950 protests killed a lot of enthusiasm and energy on our campus. Unfortunately until some wrongs are righted or some things change? Alot of people won’t be going all in on Mizzou like we used to no matter how successful one of our teams is. There is a culture that needs to be nipped at the bud. The liberals run the campus is what some say. I don’t know if that’s the problem or not. But like i said… it’s not my job to figure the problem out. It’s the people appointed to positions at the University who need to execute on plans that will better our reputation and image. Right now? A lot of Mizzou fans are ashamed of their favorite college team. Sometimes i want to be. But I continue to care what happens to the university regardless if good or bad. I’m a lifer which might mean never celebrating a National title in basketball or football. But you know what? I’d rather keep my enthusiasm filled for an occasional run at a division title then to always be expecting or demanding a conference or national and going overboard when they fall short. The Blue Blood programs in basketball and football are almost cursed by their own history. The boosters, fan bases, and alumni forget what it’s like to appreciate success when you had to start at the bottom to finally get there. How many times do programs have coaches shown the door when they are never having sub .500 seasons? All the time because most those programs are only satisfied with being #1. I’m satisfied sometimes with being in a top 10 ranking. That’s called being appreciative of something and always remembering at all times it could always be a lot worse. The SEC is the best conference hands down. I’m happy for Mizzou to be a part of it. But if we can’t get a little sympathy from our conference brethren for everything that has hit our program in the last couple years? Are we really conference mates? Or simply just there to beat up on each other. I will always root for all SEC programs to do well and stay out of violation Territory. It hurts the entire conference when our tradition rich programs are down or on probation. So to the author about the game’s attendance? Put yourself through what we have all been put through by our beloved university, then beg the question why nobody is at the games?
Seriously? Blame the administration? I know for a fact recruits want to go where the fan base is strong and supportive. Hard to blame administration for lack of product on field when no one shows up to the games. You are fairly new to the SEC so I will keep it real for you. Attendance might be down a little at some other SEC stadiums the day, but Mizzou stadium was a little ridiculous. Stop blaming the administration and start showing up to the games win or lose. Be a fan.. Not just when they are competing for championships or stay a loser and keep making excuses why you didn’t show up.
F U SDS. You’ve been on our $hit all your about attendance. Suck it
Well…..aren’t you precious
I very notice the few games have had less fans and I don’t care if we have a bad season if you bleed black and gold you need to surport the kids playing, it makes the team play for more then just a win for themselfs but for their fans, you can try saying what you want about being Black Friday but the seats haven’t been half full since the loss to middle tenn, just poor as fans who should consider selling their tickets to those that would love to watch nomatter how they played
The Iron Bowl was played on a Friday several years ago. Many folks, on both sides, had to work and couldn’t attend the game. Both teams vowed to never do it again. Friday football is bad, especially the Friday after Thanksgiving.
especially with so many people now working in retail and not manufacturing as in years past.
Pretty sure that game still sold out.
SDS cheerleaders once again write a story against everyone except their favorite little girl worship team. By now everyone has noticed that you never show a photo of the crowds after they all come in or how all of them stayed till the final second. I was at the game. The atmosphere was great.
Agreed. I was at the game as well and that photo is VERY misleading. The atmosphere was awesome and the attendance was good, considering it was the Friday after Thanksgiving. Nice try though, SDS.
Call it poor scheduling. Everyone in the South typically spends the day after Thanksgiving day resting/cleaning up/spending time with family.
Also, if it was a bigger rivalry game… it might have become a priority. The forced Missouri/Arkansas rivalry appears to have backfired.
Here’s the deal– Don’t take pictures of any event in Missouri at kickoff or first pitch. Cardinals, Royals, Chiefs…We’re tail-gaters. We won’t miss much game because we’re tuned in outside as we finish our last slice of pork loin. Take this picture a little later and it looks a whole lot better. Chill SDS. 51,000+ day after Turkey Day, and a force to be reckoned with in 2nd half when defense needed help- we did a’ight.
It doesn’t surprise me they didn’t have huge turnout. Mizzou other than Senior Day was not bowl eligible and the fans probably figured it would be another tough loss. If I had went I would have left at halftime because 24-7 it looked like Ark. Was going to blow them out. The fans especially Mizzou fans missed out on a treat! I get tired of hearing tweatle Dee and tweatle Dumb call SEC Game of the week so I almost didn’t watch it all but it turned out to be good game. I don’t know why the announcer was so shocked with Mizzou going for it on 4th & 7 from their own 7 on the fake punt run. If you know your not going to a bowl game and I’m sure everyone at that point thought Ark was going to win why not try it. Then score on 2 plays later. The game turned out to be good game. Glad the Senior got a final win at home. It was about only close game I saw of the Black Frid. Games. Wish I had watched the Memphis game because It apparently was good game scoring game winning TD with 19 sec. Left.
