Johnson leaves Houston after 4 seasons with the Cougars. A Houston native, his college career began in 2019.
Johnson redshirted his first season at Houston. He took just 1 snap during the COVID-shortened 2020 season.
In 2021, Johnson logged 669 snaps, playing 13 games as the backup left guard. He allowed just 3 sacks in 345 opportunities, including just 1 in the final 7 games over 223 opportunities.
Johnson moved up the depth chart to become Houston’s starting left guard in 2022. He logged 905 snaps, allowing just 1 sack in 556 opportunities. For his strong 2022 season, Johnson was named First-Team All-American Athletic Conference.
Johnson chose Mizzou over offers from Arkansas, South Carolina, Arizona State, Cal, Maryland and West Virginia. With his redshirt season and the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver, Johnson has 2 remaining seasons of eligibility.
