Vic Fangio on Drew Lock’s competition for Broncos’ No. 2 QB job: ‘He’s getting better’

Joe Flacco is the Denver Broncos’ starting quarterback, in case you haven’t heard. Coach Vic Fangio and everyone else in the organization makes sure to mention that constantly, even without being asked.
However, the No. 2 quarterback job is open, and former Mizzou QB Drew Lock (a 2019 second-round pick) is in the mix for that spot.
On Saturday, Fangio complimented Lock for improving, saying he’s doing good work during 7-on-7 drills:

I’m not sure who was confusing 7-on-7 for actual football, but Fangio made sure to mention the difference, unprompted. Also, Lock has not yet been eligible to play an NFL 11-on-11 game, so that seemed superfluous.
Still, Lock is earning praise from the coaching staff, so we’ll see if he earns the starting job. Hopefully Fangio will tell us the difference between a practice and an actual game when the time comes, though.
