Underdog NBA DFS Picks: 3 season-long pick'ems we love
Underdog Fantasy is the place to be for the 2023-24 NBA season. With preseason action already underway, the regular season will be here before we know it!
In fact, the first night of games is slated for Tuesday, October 24. That night, there will be 2 games played — reigning champion Denver hosting the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns heading to the Bay Area to take on the Golden State Warriors.
A full slate of games is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25, so we’ll be off and running by then!
Over at Underdog, there are several season-long higher/lower contests available now. But you’ll want to make sure you get your picks in before Oct. 24, or else they’ll disappear!

My Favorite NBA Season-Long Higher/Lower Picks
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City: Higher than 29.9 points per game
I consulted resident SDS OKC expert Spenser Davis and he thinks SGA will finish in the 28-29 points per game range this year. That makes sense, with Jalen Williams and Josh Giddey poised to take a step forward and Chet Holmgren looking healthy so far this preseason. But, to quote the great Lee Corso … not so fast, my friend! My take is that those guys being better will force defenses to pay less attention to SGA. I think OKC’s offense could be a situation where having all 5 starters playing together could lead to an offensive explosion. SGA is a guy I’m strongly considering for MVP this year, so I think he’ll average just a tick above 30 points per game.
Jayson Tatum, Boston: Higher than 28.7 points per game
This is another situation like SGA, where the team around Tatum got better this offseason. Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis join forces with Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Derrick White to form one of the best starting 5s in the entire NBA. So while there will be more mouths to feed offensively, 29 points per game is very doable for Tatum, who will be the alpha on this title-contending squad. He might not average 30.1 points per game like he did last year, but 29.1-29.5 points per contest is attainable.
Tyrese Haliburton, Indiana: Higher than 9.7 assists per game
Haliburton averaged 9.6 assists per game in 26 contests with Indiana after a trade during the 2021-22 season. He averaged 10.4 dimes per contest last year in 56 games with the Pacers, second only to James Harden (10.7 apg). The Pacers added Bruce Brown from the Nuggets and have plenty of talented shooters around Haliburton. Indiana looks to be a possible contender for a spot in the play-in tournament this season, so if Haliburton stays healthy (always a bit of a concern with him), sky is the limit for his assists total. Seeing him finish the year with 10.5+ assists is a distinct possibility, especially after his showing at the World Cup this summer.
How Many Picks Should You Make?
The more picks you make, the higher your multiplier becomes. If you take the 3 picks I detailed above, a $5 entry fee would net a 6x multiplier, leading to $30 in winnings if all your picks are correct:
There are dozens of other players available on Underdog Fantasy right now, too. Just go to the picks page, find the NBASZN button at the top and browse for your favorite teams/players! The regular season is just around the corner, though, so don’t delay!
