The field of 8 teams for the College World Series is set. There are plenty of familiar faces in Omaha, but there are no teams making back-to-back appearances and it’s been a long time since that was last the case.

As pointed out by the official NCAA baseball account, the 2025 field is the first since 1957 to not feature an attendee from the previous season.

The 2024 College World Series featured Tennessee, Florida State, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Kentucky and NC State, with the Volunteers winning it all for the program’s first national title. The 2025 field includes Arizona, Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, Louisville, LSU, Murray State, Oregon State and UCLA.

All 2025 teams except Murray State have made it to the CWS at least once before, led by LSU’s 19 previous appearances. Of this year’s 8 teams, Arkansas, Arizona and Murray State are looking for their first national title. SEC programs have won the last 5 national championships (Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU and Tennessee).

The first round begins Friday with 2 games, followed by 2 more games on Saturday. From there, play moves into winner’s bracket and loser’s bracket games.
