Gage Wood might be a day late, but it’s safe to say the Arkansas pitcher gave the best Father’s Day gift of 2025.
After leading Arkansas to a 3-0 victory over Murray State in a College World Series elimination game, Wood was asked what he did with the ball from the final out of his no-hitter.
“I gave it to my dad. Said, ‘Happy late Father’s Day,'” Wood told reporters.
After the game, Wood’s dad showed off the game ball and talked about the whirlwind day at Charles Schwab Field watching his son make history while carrying Arkansas to victory in a must-win game.

Wood came close to throwing the first perfect game in College World Series history, setting down the first 21 batters. It’s the longest CWS perfecto bid since 1999.
The no-hitter is the third ever in the CWS, and first since 1960. It’s also the 9th no-hitter of the NCAA Tournament.
