Chad Baker-Mazara has been ejected from the Iron Bowl of Basketball.
Baker-Mazara was ejected for a flagrant-2 foul after officials reviewed a play where he elbowed Alabama’s Chris Youngblood in the back of the head.
Here’s a replay of the incident:
While Auburn fans in the arena vocally disagreed with the call, ESPN’s broadcast booth supported the decision by officials to eject Baker-Mazara from the contest.
Baker-Mazara’s absence will have a big impact on the remainder of this game. Auburn was a favorite coming into this game, but have trailed for much of the night as Alabama looks to spoil the Tigers’ senior night.
This isn’t the first time Baker-Mazara has been ejected from a big game. He also hit the showers early following Auburn’s crushing loss to Yale last year in the NCAA Tournament. He played just 3 minutes in a 78-76 loss to Yale.
Auburn has already locked up the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament and is likely to be the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. However, a loss in this game would mean Auburn would enter the postseason after taking on back-to-back defeats for the first time all season.
