LSU and NC State have been working together to come to an agreement of Will Wade’s buyout after it was announced that Wade would be leaving Raleigh for Baton Rouge.
It didn’t take too long, as NC State athletic director Boo Corrigan confirmed to the media that LSU has agreed to pay the Wolfpack $4 million. Wade’s buyout was set to drop from $5 million to $3 million on April, so the two sides ultimately met in the middle.
According to Matt Norlander, Wade’s salary will see a significant bump with this move to LSU. After earning $2.5 million in 2025-26 with the Wolfpack, Norlander reports Wade is set to sign a 7-year deal worth more than $4 million annually.
He was previously the coach in Baton Rouge from 2017-2022, before he was fired after LSU was handed a Notice of Allegations by the NCAA. He spent two years at McNeese State, taking the Cowboys to the NCAA Tournament in consecutive seasons before jumping to NC State.
Last year was his first season in Raleigh, and he led the Wolfpack to the NCAA Tournament before losing to Texas in a First Four game.
