LSU transfer Jalen Reece announces commitment to SEC school

Jalen Reece is staying in the SEC. The LSU transfer has committed to Texas A&M to continue his college basketball career for 2026-27.

Reece is on the move after just his freshman season. In 2025-26, he played in 32 games. Reece made 10 starts, all in SEC play, stepping into a bigger role for the Tigers after the loss of DJ Thomas due to injury.

For the season, Reece averaged 23.8 minutes per game, a number that went up to 30.8 in conference action. He averaged 5.8 points and 3.6 assists per game on the year. In regular-season SEC play, his production increased to 7.1 points and 4.7 assists per game. Over the final 5 games of the season, Reece was at his best, averaging 10.6 points and 7.2 assists per contest.

For the year, Reece reached double-figure scoring 9 times. Eight of those games were against SEC opponents.

Reece is a native of Orlando, Florida. He played for Oak Ridge High School, where he averaged 22 points, 7.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game as a senior. As a high school recruit, Reece was rated 4-stars, the No. 10 point guard, No. 17 player in the state of Florida and No. 76 prospect overall in the Class of 2025 on the 247Sports Composite.

Reece joins Texas A&M as the Aggies gear up for Year 2 with Bucky McMillan. A&M went 22-12 n McMillan’s first season, reaching the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 32.
