The 2025 NBA Draft is just around the corner as the playoffs continue to advance toward the NBA Finals next month.
Teams not involved in the postseason are already locked in on the draft. The lottery order will be determined on Monday, May 12, which will sort out where the league’s non-playoff teams pick in Round 1.
The Ringer recently published its first-round projections. Two SEC basketball stars find themselves in the lottery, while a total of 6 SEC standouts are included in the Round 1 mix.
Here’s where all 6 ex-SEC guys are predicted to land as things stand now:
- No. 5 — Tre Johnson, G, Texas — Philadelphia 76ers
- No. 11 — Jeremiah Fears, G, Oklahoma — Dallas Mavericks
- No. 20 — Collin Murray-Boyles, F, South Carolina — Miami Heat
- No. 21 — Asa Newell, C, Georgia — Utah Jazz
- No. 25 — Labaron Philon, G, Alabama — Orlando Magic
- No. 28 — Walter Clayton Jr., G, Florida — Boston Celtics
Round 1 of the 2025 NBA Draft is set for Wednesday, June 25, in Brooklyn. Round 1 takes place that night, with Round 2 happening the following night.
We’ll see how much these projections change over the next few weeks, but for now, this is a solid look at where things stand as our calendars flip to May.
