College basketball is less than 2 weeks away.

A pair of SEC small forwards were listed on the preseason Julius Erving Award watchlist, which was released Wednesday afternoon. The award, as you can guess, is given to the top small forward in college basketball each season.

The 2 players in question are Kentucky’s Justin Edwards and Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht.

Let’s start with Edwards, who was the nation’s No. 3 overall prospect coming out of high school. He’s set for a major role with Kentucky as a freshman. He’s likely to thrive on a team led by Antonio Reeves, Tre Mitchell and 9 fellow underclassmen.

Knecht is a little different. This will be his 3rd season in college basketball after transferring from Northern Colorado. The 6-6 SF is an elite shooter and should be one of the better scorers in the conference out of the gate for Tennessee.

The college basketball seasons starts on November 6. Kentucky will face off against New Mexico State while Tennessee face off against Tennessee Tech.
