Ole Miss earned a spot in the quarterfinals thanks to a dramatic game-winner from Sean Pedulla on Thursday. The Rebels would be able to significantly improve their seeding in the NCAA Tournament with a win over Auburn. The Tigers are a lock to be a No. 1 seed regardless of the outcome in this game.
Texas is firmly on the March Madness bubble heading into this matchup with the Vols. If the Longhorns can pick up another win on Friday, they’d very likely be headed to the Big Dance. Depending on how the other conference tournaments shake out, the SEC could get as many as 14 teams into the NCAA Tournament this year.
Mizzou is facing a Florida team on Friday that will be hungry to earn a spot on the 1-seed line. The Gators are in the mix for a No. 1 seed along with Auburn, Tennessee and Alabama, so a win over Mizzou on Friday would strengthen their case. The Tigers might be without Mark Mitchell who left their game on Thursday due to a knee injury.
Kentucky barely survived a comeback effort by Oklahoma on Thursday night to make it to this round. Alabama swept the Wildcats this season, so it will be interesting to see if Mark Pope’s staff can make enough adjustments to flip the result in this game.
