The 2020 NFL Draft just wrapped up last month, and a record number of SEC players (15) were taken in Round 1.
As we look ahead to the 2021 NFL Draft, it doesn’t appear at this point that the SEC will challenge its own record.
In Bleacher Report analyst Kristopher Knox’s latest 2021 mock draft, 10 SEC athletes are projected to go in the first round:
- No. 5 — Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU — Miami Dolphins
- No. 9 — Dylan Moses, LB, Alabama — Atlanta Falcons
- No. 11 — Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama — Denver Broncos
- No. 12 — Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama — New York Giants
- No. 16 — Alex Leatherwood, OL, Alabama — Jacksonville Jaguars
- No. 17 — Richard LeCounte III, S, Georgia — Las Vegas Raiders
- No. 22 — Tyler Shelvin, DL, LSU — Indianapolis Colts
- No. 24 — JaCoby Stevens, S, LSU — Philadelphia Eagles
- No. 25 — Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU — Green Bay Packers
- No. 28 — Jamie Newman, QB, Georgia — New Orleans Saints
There’s still a full season to be played for players to hurt/improve their draft stock, of course, so we’ll see what happens over the next several months.
