4-star JUCO DL Emmit Gooden names Arkansas, Tennessee among his finalists
Emmit Gooden’s wild recruitment will soon finally be coming to an end.
The Tennessee native commit to the Volunteers nearly four years ago, only to back out of that decision to reevaluate his recruitment during his high school career. Gooden would later commit to Mississippi State but never ended up playing in Starkville. His path from high school eventually led him to Independence Community College where he rose to become one of the most sought-after JUCO prospects two years later.
Another interesting twist in his story, Gooden will be featured in the upcoming third season of the Netflix documentary series Last Chance U, which followed Independence CC in 2017. Gooden is currently ranked as the No. 17 junior college prospect in the nation by 247Sports Composite Rankings.
After committing to Bret Bielema’s Arkansas program, he backed off that pledge following Bielema’s firing. Now, with new staffs at both Tennessee and Arkansas, Gooden is back on the radar for both programs.
Thursday, with less than a week remaining until National Signing Day, Gooden announced both programs and West Virginia had made his three finalists.
