4-star 2021 WR Trevonte Rucker made a few headlines recently when he committed to FCS Jackson State.
Though Jackson State recently hired Deion Sanders as its head coach, it is still an FCS program, so landing a 4-star receiver is a huge deal.
Rucker had offers from Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, LSU and Mizzou, among other SEC schools, so it was a bit surprising he committed to Jackson State. He explained to The Miami Herald that he wants to be a trend-setter:
“Nobody’s actually doing it,” Rucker said. “Just start the trend and be the first one to do it — it’s a blessing and I’m just trying to open up everybody’s eyes, show everybody what they can do.
“That’s my mindset: Get there and change the world, make history with Deion.”
Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Rucker is the No. 33 wide receiver in the class of 2021 and the No. 29 overall recruit from the state of Florida.
