The 2019 NBA Draft saw an impressive 12 SEC players picked in the first two rounds.
Two teams — Kentucky and Tennessee — had three players drafted each.
So, how do things stack up looking ahead to 2020? Yahoo! Sports has already projected six SEC players to be first round picks. It’s worth noting the first overall pick is projected to be incoming Memphis center James Wiseman.
The SEC picks are reflected below:
No. 2 Anthony Edwards, Georgia (Fr.)
No. 9 Scottie Lewis, Florida (Fr.)
No. 12 Tyrese Maxey, Kentucky (Fr.)
No. 23 Trendon Watford, LSU (Fr.)
No. 26 Kahlil Whitney, Kentucky (Fr.)
No. 27 AJ Lawson, South Carolina (So.)
Of the six projected picks, five of them are freshmen. South Carolina’s AJ Lawson is the only sophomore. Obviously, it’ll be telling how well Anthony Edwards projects at Georgia, but he’s downright nasty on the hardcourt. Florida’s Scottie Lewis is also a highly-rated incoming freshman expected to make some major noise.
The Cats logged three first-round picks in 2019, and they could add two more in 2020 in Tyrese Maxey and Kahlil Whitney.
