The SEC just set a record by having 15 players taken in Round 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft.

As of right now, it doesn’t look like the conference will be able to match that incredible output in the 2021 NFL Draft, but of course, it is still early in the process.

On Monday, CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli put out his early 2021 Round 1 mock draft, and as you can see below, 9 SEC players are projected to go in the first round:

  • No. 6 — Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU — New York Jets
  • No. 10 — Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida — Arizona Cardinals
  • No. 11 — Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama — Atlanta Falcons
  • No. 14 — K.J. Costello, QB, Mississippi State — Indianapolis Colts
  • No. 15 — Dylan Moses, LB, Alabama — New England Patriots
  • No. 25 — Jamie Newman, QB, Georgia — Pittsburgh Steelers
  • No. 27 — Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia — Buffalo Bills
  • No. 29 — Nick Bolton, LB, Mizzou — New Orleans Saints
  • No. 31 — Richard LeCounte III, S, Georgia — San Francisco 49ers

Georgia has more projected Round 1 picks (3) than Alabama (2) in this mock draft. Will that change? Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith and Alex Leatherwood, among others, weren’t included in Fornelli’s projections.
