Aaron Murray believes the perception of Alabama is being masked by the reputation of the Crimson Tide.

The former Georgia quarterback now calling games as an ESPN broadcaster put it bluntly during the first half of the Alabama-Ole Miss game: “We need to stop being fooled by the A on their helmet. This is not a great team this year and extremely undisciplined. We see it every week but we believe it will be different the next game. It is not their year … Y’all know what I mean by A on their helmet. I know it’s numbers.”

Even after Murray made those comments, Alabama suffered a fumble, and then was flagged by pass interference in back-to-back plays.

But to Murray’s point, Alabama with 8.7 penalties per game is tied for the most in the nation, and the 17 penalties at Tennessee was the most in school history. Alabama has also had at least 10 penalties in 3 games.
