Alabama basketball matches best start in program history with 77-69 win over Auburn

Alabama basketball has matched its best start in program history. Nate Oats’ squad improved to 22-3 on Saturday with a 77-69 win over rival Auburn on The Plains.
Bruce Pearl’s Auburn squad hung with No. 3 Alabama deep into the second half. The game was tied 7 times with 13 lead changes.
The Crimson Tide dominated the final stretch to come away with the 8-point victory. Auburn’s last lead was 62-61 at the 6:12 mark. The Tigers made just 1 of their last 10 field-goal attempts.
UA was the better shooting team (59% to 32%) and dominated points in the paint (44-20). Alabama also had more points off the bench (25-14). Rylan Griffen led all scorers with 16 points.

The 22-3 mark is the same as Alabama started in the 1974-75 season, per Mike Rodak of AL.com. The Tide will try to get to 23-3 on Wednesday at No. 6 Tennessee.
