Alabama got the break it needed to make 1 of its transfer portal additions official on Tuesday. Defensive lineman Kedrick Bingley-Jones, a Mississippi State transfer, confirmed on social media that his waiver was approved by the NCAA for a seventh year of eligibility.
“Thank You God!” Bingley-Jones said. “Wavier got approved by the NCAA,”
The 6-foot-4, 320-pound Bingley-Jones began his career at North Carolina prior to joining Mississippi State in 2024. Bingley-Jones gained a regular redshirt in 2020, followed by medical redshirts in 2023 and 2024.
In his limited appearances, Bingley-Jones tallied 7 total tackles combined at North Carolina in 2022 and 2023. In his first season at Mississippi State, Bingley-Jones had 7 total tackles. He followed that up last season with 25 total tackles and a pass breakup.
Bingley-Jones is the No. 94 defensive player in the portal, according to the 247Sports transfer rankings.
Coming out of high school, Bingley-Jones was regarded as the No. 4 player from North Carolina and the country’s No. 12 defensive tackle, according to the 247Sports Composite. As a high school career, Bingley-Jones was a first-team NCISAA all-state selection.
Alabama finished 11-4 last season in large part because of its defense. Alabama’s defense ranked 20th nationally in points per game (19.2).
