Alabama is fresh off a national championship, which means a number of players will likely head off to the NFL.

On Thursday, though, the Crimson Tide got some good news as they prepare for the 2021 season, as a key defender announced his return to school.

As you can see below, DL Phidarian Mathis announced via Twitter that he’d come back to play for the Tide in 2021:

Mathis recorded 31 tackles this season, including 5 for a loss. He had 1.5 sacks, 3 pass breakups and a forced fumble.

Next year, he figures to be a big part of Alabama’s defensive line once again. Can he have a breakout season and become a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft?
