Alabama received a major commitment on Tuesday, flipping 4-star tight end Marshall Pritchett from North Carolina.

Pritchett is big at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, and he has big goals, too, telling On3 that he wants “to bring the first Mackey Award home to Tuscaloosa.” The Mackey Award is given annually to the best tight end in college football, and the young man from Rabun Gap, Georgia, wants it to be his at Alabama.

Pritchett had been committed to North Carolina since March 23, but now he’s headed to Tuscaloosa, becoming the second known tight end to join Alabama’s 2025 class.

Pritchett is ranked as the No. 404 overall recruit in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He’s the 22nd-ranked tight end in the class and the 50th-ranked recruit from the state of Georgia..

Pritchett, who reported an offer from Alabama on May 19, joins fellow 4-star tight end Kaleb Edwards from El Dorado Hills (Calif.) Oak Ridge in heading to Tuscaloosa.

He is also the third Georgia native to publicly commit to Alabama in the 2025 class, joining 4-star linebackers Darrell Johnson and Luke Metz.

Pritchett projects to be more of a pass-catching option at tight end for Alabama. According to MaxPreps, he had 44 receptions for 621 yards and 4 touchdowns as a high school junior in 2023. Interestingly, Pritchett is also a big-time lacrosse player.
