Jaheim Oatis has been on a weight loss journey ahead of his first college football season.
In 2017, Oatis went viral tweeting his measurements of 6-4, 286 pounds going into 8th grade. A standout at Columbia High School in Mississippi, Oatis was listed at 6-4, 349 pounds when committed to Alabama in April 2021.
The UA football roster lists Oatis as a 6-5, 370-pound defensive lineman. The Crimson Tide freshman revealed Wednesday, however, that he was much heavier at one point, but is back below his April 2021 weight.
Oatis tweeted that he hit 416 pounds. While the SEC trenches are dominated by big bodies, Oatis was a bit too heavy to be a well-conditioned regular contributor on the Alabama defense. Oatis says he’s now 342 pounds.
Yes sir I was 416 now I’m 342 .. yes sir I’m putting the work in 🙌🏾… I except sir !!!!! I’m ready to show the world Sir ! #RollTide #freshmanYearLoading pic.twitter.com/cpkhfIyu6b

Oatis was the No. 12 defensive lineman and No. 71 prospect overall in the class of 2022 on the 247Sports Composite. If kept at an effective weight, he figures to be a force on the defensive line.
