The recruiting news surrounding Alabama has been pretty busy around Christmas time.
Alabama got a commitment on Friday from three-star defensive end Aaron Sterling for the Class of 2017, according to 247 Sports. Sterling reached out to coach Nick Saban on Thursday night to let the program know.
A 6-foot-1, 270-pound rising prospect out of Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson, Sterling is rated as the No. 20 strongside defensive end.
His recruiting coach Corey Johnson told 247 Sports that Sterling was hearing from Florida, Georgia and Tennessee quite a bit before making his pledge with the Crimson Tide. He had also been offered by South Carolina, North Carolina, California and Wake Forest.
According to his recruiting coach, Sterling posted 24 sacks and about 40 tackles for a loss as a junior.
He’s Alabama’s ninth commitment for 2017.
Alabama has been busy on the recruiting trails around the holidays. The Tide offered two prospects for 2016 on Christmas Eve, cornerback Kristian Fulton as well as defensive end Connor Murphy.
